The group’s spokesman, Félix Delgado, declared that they went to the headquarters of the Public Ministry (MP) in the jurisdiction to present the corresponding complaints and that actions be taken on the matter as soon as possible.

“This is not a war between fishermen. This must be done with controls, with measures and not wait until it is too late so that we do not deplete the natural resources of the dam. There are people who dedicate themselves to fishing for their own sustenance, but others do it for profit, using nets or methods that are forbidden, fishing on days (seasons) prohibited by law, doing it in a brutal way,” he denounced.

Similarly, Mr. Delgado pointed out that the flora and fauna of this important reservoir may be compromised, since the Venezuelan legal framework that governs the matter prevents indiscriminate capture in reservoirs.

“We see with concern how irresponsible people fail to comply with and operate outside of the legal framework, they are putting an end to the dam. We make this complaint in good faith and hope that the authorities enforce compliance with the laws. It is necessary to take control of what is being done in Calabozo so that the (local) species do not disappear,” said the spokesman.
