“The FCI was the jewel in the crown for Berzabeth Gandica,” said Jossue Márquez, Councilor of Umuquena, after the members of the municipal council investigated the amount of funds approved for the municipality during 17 years of management by the former Chavista Mayor .

In the investigation that was initially requested by the democratic Mayor of San Judas Tadeo, Salvador Pérez as some irregularities were detected, such as the approval of almost 300 thousand dollars for a rural aqueduct, while the population is still consuming contaminated water.

Márquez also reported that nearly 200,000 dollars were approved for curbstones and sidewalks in the San Martín urban development, works that were not carried out, among other irregularities.

The regime Still Doesn’t Start an Investigation

The complaints with the respective supporting documents were filed with the regime’s Prosecutor’s Office and Comptroller General’s Office last March and to date have received no response.

Mr. Márquez noted that Mayor Salvador Pérez presented the evidence of the alleged acts committed by the current director of ZE Táchira before the prosecutor Neo Amarista of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and an investigation has yet to be initiated.

Freddy Bernal, Chavista governor of Táchira, would have knowledge of the alleged cases of corruption of Gandica, who is part of his executive board and his response last April, to Mayor Pérez at the time when the evidence was introduced should have been: “Follow the procedure that the law applies (Let justice take its course),” said Márquez.

“We are concerned that the first authority of education in this State is Bertzabeth, because we do not want her to leave the Educational Zone as she left this municipality,” he said.

The councilors of Umuquena demand that the regime investigate as soon as possible the alleged crimes committed by the current director of the ZE, who would have attacked the public health and human rights of the “Umuquense” people, who suffered from diseases caused by the consumption of contaminated water.
